HHV Video of the Week: Young Jeezy – “We Done It Again”

In 2008, Young Jeezy stepped out of his “comfort zone” for a political cause. The second single off Young Jeezy’s The Recession was “My President is Black,” which featured Nas. Many considered Nas and Young Jeezy polar opposites, despite both of them being Def Jam artists.

Barack Obama served as inspiration to many in 2008, but was also considered a large disappointment by 2012. While President Obama was less inspiring than the candidate from four years prior, he managed to gain re-election. Maintaining his hip hop base, Lupe Fiasco and Young Jeezy expressed disappointment.

Young Jeezy was a little upset because he had not been invited to the White House, but still backed him for re-election. Upon Obama gaining re-election, Young Jeezy delivered the inspirational “We Done It Again.” The song has gained much attention over the past week, with the music video dropping on Wednesday.
