Much like his Maybach Music label-mate, Wale, Meek Mill’s rise to stardom is incredible and inspirational. Meek Mill began his pursuit of rap music success at an early age. After getting into minor mishaps, Meek Mill spent some time behind bars, which turned out to be a positive for him.

At the time when Philadelphia fell out of the mainstream spotlight, Meek Mill gave the city something new to enjoy. Meek Mill’s energetic brand of music caught on and he released a steady stream of mixtapes. Eventually, this would lead to Meek Mill signing with Grand Hustle Records, though he would soon leave.

Meek Mill eventually caught the attention of Rick Ross, who devoted much of his energy into rebranding his Maybach Music label. In the midst of a major signing spree, Meek Mill was added to the MMG roster, which was soon absorbed into Warner Bros. Records. The official journey for Meek Mill began in Feburary 2011 and concluded today with Dreams and Nightmares being released, for which a documentary was filmed.
