Did Game go too far with the “Jesus Piece” album cover?

Releasing an abundance of memorable songs over the past eight years, Game has become the biggest mainstream representation of Los Angeles hip hop. Hailing from the same Compton streets as Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, it was destined for Game to join forces with the good doctor. Game would end up serving two stints on Aftermath Entertainment.

Over the course of his career, Game has been one of hip hop’s most controversial figures. At the start of his career, Game engaged in a feud with Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek. While he toned things down when he joined Aftermath, Game would soon feud with 50 Cent. The feud with 50 Cent would briefly cause a rift between Game and Dr. Dre.

Game would leave Aftermath/Interscope for sister label, Geffen Records, and release two albums. On both albums, Game expressed his desires to reunite with Dr. Dre and his dislike for 50 Cent. Eventually, Game received his wish and reunited with Dr. Dre, this coming after he mended fences with Ja Rule and received co-signs from Nas, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss.

When Rick Ross engaged in his feud with 50 Cent, Game was the first big name to show support. Their mutual dislike of 50 Cent created a strong working relationship. Rick Ross appeared on Game’s The R.E.D. Album, on the song “Heavy Artillery.” Game’s reunion with Dr. Dre took place right before the 2009 release date for the album. Several delays later, the album came in 2012 and Game is wasting no time getting the album out. “Celebration,” featuring Chris Brown, Tyga, Lil Wayne, and Wiz Khalifa, is the album’s first single.

Following the success of “Celebration,” Game followed up this weekend with the official artwork for Jesus Piece, the name of his fifth studio album. While the graphics were done well, the actual image would anger many fans, who felt it was offensive. The photo many accept as the photo of Jesus Christ showed him covered in red and throwing up gang signs. Game has always gone outside of the box on his music and did put a lot of thought into his album cover, but he tends to over do things at time.

However, with Jesus Piece, did Game actually go too far?
