Kendrick Lamar talks working with Dr. Dre, “The Recipe” video, 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher, and more with Bootleg Kev [VIDEO]

Once considered a background player, Kendrick Lamar stole the spotlight in 2011, releasing his critically-acclaimed Section.80 album and working with Game. Kendrick Lamar would steal the show on Game’s single, “The City.” This verse would lead to Kendrick Lamar working with Dr. Dre and eventually signing to Aftermath Entertainment.

Kendrick Lamar heated things up this summer with “The Recipe,” which features him sharing a track with Dr. Dre. Supposedly, the song is taken from Dr. Dre’s long-awaited album, Detox. Recently, the two collaborated on Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city.

Speaking with Bootleg Kev in Arizona, Kendrick Lamar revealed “Compton” was the first song he worked on with Dr. Dre. Kendrick Lamar also spoke on a music video for “The Recipe.” Stealing the scene again, Kendrick Lamar performed on the West Coast cypher of the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, which he also discussed.
