In 2009, the rather silent Rick Ross surprised hip hop fans when he took aim at 50 Cent on his “Mafia Music” song. An odd twist in fate, Rick Ross’ beef with 50 Cent turned him into a nationally-known artist. At the time, Rick Ross’ primary fan base was in the South, but his high-profile feud with 50 Cent gained him a national following.
Comparable to 50 Cent’s G-Unit soldiers going to war for him against several foes, Rick Ross’ Triple Cs lined up to battle against 50 Cent. Gunplay was arguably the most-vocal 50 Cent antagonist, with the exception of Rick Ross. While the feud had been dormant for close to two years, many were prepared for something to take place at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards.
50 Cent played nice with Fat Joe, but the same could not be said for his Philadelphia artist, Mike Knox, who jumped Gunplay. After the fight, Gunplay admitted he did not know where his chain was. Days later, Mike Knox revealed he had it. Via Twitter, 50 Cent offered to give it to Young Jeezy for his birthday, as he has issues with Maybach Music also.
However, 50 Cent would settle for wearing Gunplay’s MMG chain while he was bowling.
