Making two moves led to Diddy restoring Bad Boy Records to notability in the rap game. For years, Bad Boy Records was simply the home of Cassie. The label was used as a method for Diddy to release new music and, occasionally, a new artist. Diddy acknowledged the lack of interest in his label and promised he would refocus.

In 2011, Diddy signed Machine Gun Kelly and French Montana to Bad Boy Records. Adding two of the hottest mixtape rappers in the game turned the label around. Suddenly, Bad Boy Records was all over the radio and all over the mixtapes. Meanwhile, Diddy was simply making more sound business moves.

“Wild Boy” by Machine Gun Kelly and featuring Waka Flocka Flame has become the biggest hit from Bad Boy Records in 2012. Recently, the song crossed the 500,000 mark, which has made it a gold single. For his efforts, Diddy presented Machine Gun Kelly with his first-ever gold plaque, as his Lace Up album is to be released on October 9.
