The death of Chris Lighty had a ripple effect on the rap game. Despite numerous feuding rappers in the game, many of them owed a great deal to Chris Lighty. This was the case for both 50 Cent and Fat Joe. Before his death, Chris Lighty often pleaded with the two rappers to end their feud, but they did not.

Going into the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, many expected some form of confrontation between 50 Cent and Fat Joe. The two rappers had nothing good to say about each other in the days leading up to their performance. But, the battling would take place between another 50 Cent rival, Rick Ross, and his newest foe, Young Jeezy.

Machine Gun Kelly had a first-hand account of the fight between Young Jeezy and Rick Ross and was still in Atlanta when Gunplay fought Mike Knox. Appearing on MTV’s “RapFix Live,” Machine Gun Kelly would speak with Sway Calloway about the fights. MGK would also get involved in his own controversy at the Microsoft Store in Atlanta.
