There have been a lot of good things said about Kendrick Lamar over the past year. Rising to stardom on the heels of his Section.80 album, Kendrick Lamar has become the new face of Interscope Records. The journey has been a long time coming for someone who has been rapping since the age of sixteen.

While Kendrick Lamar was met with critical-acclaim and co-signs from Game and Dr. Dre all from his album, Section.80, he decided to record something new for his official debut. Dr. Dre immediately signed Kendrick Lamar to Aftermath Entertainment. Now under Dr. Dre’s wing, Kendrick Lamar has his official debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, album in the works.

Even before the official release of his debut album, Kendrick Lamar has upset the likes of Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and J. Cole, winning ‘Lyricist of the Year’ at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. There were no sore losers, though, as no additional fights broke out. Winning such a major award before the release of his debut album earns a unique distinction for Kendrick Lamar.
