Seven years ago, Lil Wayne took an indefinite hiatus during what was the peak of his career. It was after the platinum release of Tha Carter II, when Lil Wayne took time off. Lil Wayne would revert to mixtapes, teaming up with DJ Drama. In 2007, Lil Wayne began making preparations to release Tha Carter III.
Lil Wayne has gone on to release a new album every year since 2008. As was the case in 2010, when he served time in prison, Lil Wayne released two albums. The first was the long-awaited Rebirth, the second was I Am Not a Human Being. Promotion for the second 2010 album was never fully realized, as Lil Wayne immediately focused on Tha Carter IV.
Fresh out of prison, Lil Wayne released “6 Foot 7 Foot” and followed it with the triple platinum Carter IV. Lil Wayne soon announced his next album would be I Am Not a Human Being 2, which would be released in 2012. After much discussion, the first single, “My Homies Still,” featuring Big Sean was released, followed by “No Love” featuring Detail.
As he did with Tha Carter IV, Lil Wayne released a mixtape, Dedication 4, with DJ Drama, before the album. November 13 is the planned release date for I Am Not a Human Being 2, placing him against 50 Cent, who will release Street King Immortal on the same day.
