Kendrick Lamar interview with DJ Whoo Kid for Shade 45 [AUDIO]

The previous stagnation of the Los Angeles hip hop scene has been highly discussed over the past few years. In 2004, it appeared as if Los Angeles was on its way back up, as Game had taken over the mixtape game to enjoy mainstream success. With Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine placing Game in 50 Cent’s label, G-Unit Records, it appeared to be a match made in heaven.

Loyal to the camp, Game immediately joined the campaign against Ja Rule, but soon found his true rival to be 50 Cent. Despite going against 50 Cent and being dropped from Aftermath Entertainment, Game still enjoyed success. But, there were few artists following him to success from Los Angeles, as the veterans continued to reign.

All of this changed in 2011, when Kendrick Lamar would rise to the forefront of the Los Angeles hip hop scene, being co-signed by Game. Soon working with Game, Kendrick Lamar would meet Dr. Dre and sign with him. Kendrick Lamar recently spoke to DJ Whoo Kid for Shade 45 about this journey, which has opened so many doors for him.
