Kendrick Lamar talks career timeline with VEVO Lift [VIDEO]

In 2010, rumblings of the “New West” began to gain traction on the internet. During this period of time, markets outside of Los Angeles began hearing about Kendrick Lamar. Building a name for himself as a popular mixtape rapper, Kendrick Lamar soon found himself the next big rap star. By 2011, Kendrick Lamar began working with Game and Dr. Dre.

Being featured on Game’s The R.E.D. Album, Kendrick Lamar had a scene-stealing verse of “The City,” which would become the final single off the album. During this period of time, Kendrick Lamar began working with Dr. Dre. Soon signed by Aftermath Entertainment, Kendrick Lamar helped his entire label, Top Dawg Ent., secure a deal with Interscope Records.

VEVO Lift caught up with Kendrick Lamar and included him in their series. Over the past few weeks, various clips have been released. In each clip, Kendrick Lamar has discussed a different topic. K. Dot would speak on his overall career timeline in the fifth video clip released. Currently, the Compton rapper is preparing to release his debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, on October 22.
