Often overlooked is the Memphis hip hop scene, which has produced many mixtape stars and some of hip hop’s biggest names. The members of Three Six Mafia have since gone solo, with Project Pat focused on his mixtapes, Juicy J receiving mainstream stardom with Wiz Khalifa, and DJ Paul making his solo moves. While DJ Paul was in New York City, he spoke with T.I.’s AKOO clothing line.

DJ Paul has been in the game for some time. For years, he was one of the few popular DJs in the mainstream rap world. Now, the DJs have returned to prominence in the game. The top two DJs, in terms of popularity, are DJ Khaled and DJ Drama. There are many other DJs building their name, also.

Speaking with AKOO, DJ Paul revealed he is not into many of the new rappers. DJ Paul also argues that there were probably older rappers who did not like his music. One newer artist DJ Paul is a fan of is Waka Flocka Flame, however. In addition to his interest in Waka Flocka Flame, DJ Paul revealed he has returned to DJ-ing.
