Meek Mill explains his rap name and talks favorite rappers with Wild 94.9 [VIDEO]

Before he inked with Rick Ross and Maybach Music, Meek Mill had become one of the biggest mixtape rappers in Philadelphia. For years, the Philadelphia hip hop scene had been overlooked. Since the days of State Property being a subsidiary of the popular Roc-A-Fella Records, Philadelphia had taken a back seat.

Meek Mill provided new energy in Philadelphia, catching the attention of T.I., who signed him to Grand Hustle. The deal was very short-lived and Meek Mill got his act together and took over the Philadelphia hip hop scene. Signing with Maybach Music gave Meek Mill the proper outlet to showcase his talent to the world.

Now one of the biggest rappers in the game, Meek Mill is preparing for the release of his debut album, Dreams & Nightmares. Meek Mill will release his debut album in three weeks. Recently, he visited the Bay Area and spoke to Wild 94.9, speaking on his name and five of his favorite rappers.
