If there is a king of the “new Atlanta” movement, coined by DJ Spinz, hands down the winner is 2 Chainz. Through his role as Tity Boi of DTP’s Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz was a known rapper in Atlanta. However, the odds of him becoming a star were unlikely, as the group already enjoyed a hit single.
Four years after this single, 2 Chainz took to the Atlanta streets and began releasing songs and mixtapes, making himself a force. 2 Chainz would sign a joint venture deal with Def Jam to establish his own record label, The Real University. Since then, he has been recording his debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story.
Recently, MTV caught up with 2 Chainz, who is preparing to released his album in three weeks. During the interview, 2 Chainz spoke on his debut album, previewing it with MTV. His segment was a part of MTV’s “Hip Hop Preview Week.”
