Young Kendrick Lamar has emerged as the leader of the “New West,” as his independent releases gained him international fame and a deal with Aftermath. Once Kendrick Lamar’s music found its way to Dr. Dre’s offices, he was determined to sign the Compton native. Though he was already signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, a joint venture deal was created.
Kendrick Lamar released his critically-acclaimed album, Section.80, last summer. Even with the album being met with strong reviews, Kendrick Lamar decided to record an official debut album for the following summer. Since last year, Kendrick Lamar has been working on this new project, but still has no release date.
Recently, Kendrick Lamar spoke to Jenny Boom Boom about his upcoming album. Becuase he is now signed to Aftermath Entertainment, the conversation quickly shifted to Dr. Dre. For well over a decade, Dr. Dre has left fans waiting on Detox. The two came together for his official lead single, “The Recipe” and Kendrick Lamar also spoke on his admiration for Jay-Z.
