To many, it still feels as if 50 Cent is a relative newcomer in the rap game, as opposed to a longtime veteran, who has become a mogul. Before the major endorsement deals and the blockbuster films, 50 Cent was a man with a dream. 50 Cent teamed up with DJ Whoo Kid and began releasing a series of mixtapes.

Initially, 50 Cent was signed to Columbia Records and was set to release Power of the Dollar, his debut album. After his infamous shooting, 50 Cent was left without a record deal. This, however, did not stop 50 Cent, as he released the project as a mixtape. Over the next two years, 50 Cent flooded the streets with new projects.

50 Cent is the Future was one of the projects, which caught the attention of Eminem. Ten years have passed since the release of the project. 50 Cent recently sat down with XXL and spoke on the impact the mixtape had and explained how it came to be.
