Of all the newer rappers out there, Wiz Khalifa has proven to be among the most-durable. Wiz Khalifa’s mixtape single, “Black & Yellow,” was released during the late summer of 2010. The single served as the launch for Rolling Papers, his debut album which debuted the following spring.

Those who followed Wiz Khalifa’s mixtapes noticed a sharp change from his mixtapes to his album. Overall, the fan base was disappointed with the release. In the eyes of most, Wiz Khalifa went pop. Wiz Khalifa admitted his album was geared toward pop audiences and that he felt pressure.

But, on his next album, Wiz Khalifa said he would return to his roots and make the music he likes. Since the fall of last year, Wiz Khalifa has discussed his upcoming second album, O.N.I.F.C. The first single, “Work Hard, Play Hard,” was recently released and it has been certified gold by the RIAA.
