Since 2005, there has been much discussion about the New Jersey Nets relocating to Brooklyn to become the Brooklyn Nets. With Jay-Z as a part-owner of the Nets, the designing and the relocation was his idea. Jay-Z having an ownership stake in the Nets was a major move for hip hop, as no other hip hop artist owns a professional sports team.

Giving the ultimate prize back to his native, Brooklyn, Jay-Z has come under fire for the redesign. A columnist in the New York Post, said Jay-Z should name the team the “Brooklyn Niggers.”

Moving past the negativity, Jay-Z is focused on his businesses, as he is spending the summer overseas to bond with his daughter. Recently, MTV News caught up with Jay-Z and he discussed the overhaul of the look of the Nets.
