One thing has been made clear, Roc Nation and Roc-A-Fella Records are two entirely different operations created by the same man. Jay-Z created Roc-A-Fella Records as an outlet for his own music in hopes of gaining fortune and fame. Roc Nation was created after Jay-Z saw an opportunity to expand his business interests.

As a result, Roc Nation is run as more of a major label than Roc-A-Fella Records was ever run. Jay-Z signed artists from around the world who he thought were talented and these artists have become big names. Managing some, while adding others to the record label, fans have been forced to wait for release dates.

Following several delays, J. Cole released Cole World: The Sideline Story, which was a commercial and critical success, solidifying the “New South” rapper in the game. Now, Jay Electronica, another “New South” artist is preparing for his debut album. Jay-Z is taking time off from his own career for his daughter, but he will still be active in the Roc Nation business. Speaking with MTV News, Jay-Z said Jay Electronica’s debut album is close to done and is “scary good.”
