Before his hiatus, Eminem had become hip hop’s most-visible figure. Following the success of his 2002 album, The Eminem Show, Eminem put together his own film, 8 Mile. With character names altered, the film was loosely based on Eminem’s own rise to stardom. Three years ago, Eminem made his triumphant return to the rap game, releasing albums in 2009 and 2010.
Last year, Eminem focused on developing the new talent of Shady Records. Business on his mind, Eminem also took on a role in the upcoming film, Southpaw. Eminem has remained out of the spotlight for nearly two years. Reorganizing Shady Records, Eminem wanted to take time to film Southpaw, which was set to be released later this year.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Eminem has stopped filming the role of the left-handed boxer to focus back on music. After giving the reigns to his Shady Records roster, Eminem has now rededicated himself to making music. Despite being currently focused on making music, Eminem does intend to return and complete the film.
