Two years ago, the hip hop world was taken by storm with Waka Flocka Flame, the protege of Gucci Mane. It did not take long for Waka Flocka Flame to become more popular than his leader, but soon a backlash built. Despite the backlash, there was high demand for Waka Flocka Flame’s music, even though his true desire was to be a professional wrestler.
Last year, Waka Flocka Flame remained out of the spotlight, for the most part. During the summer of 2011, Waka Flocka Flame released “Round of Applause.” The song was soon remixed by Drake, who reached out to Waka Flocka Flame. Months later, official artwork was released and “Round of Applause” was attached to an album.
Early in 2012, Waka Flocka Flame revealed his album would be called Triple F Life, which stands for “fans, friends, and family.” Around the same time the title of the album was revealed, Waka Flocka Flame released the second single, “I Don’t Really Care.” Coming nearly six months after the first single, it was clear Waka Flocka Flame was back.
Waka Flocka Flame said he intentionally took 2011 off to give everyone a break, before taking the game over again in 2012. However, last summer, the Atlanta rapper revealed he was tired of the fakeness in the rap game and said he was retiring. It has been the recording of this new album, along with his collaborations, which has kept Waka Flocka Flame from giving up. Now, in a month, Waka Flocka Flame will release his sophomore album, Triple F Life.
