Rev Run remembers Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch [VIDEO]

Yesterday, the hip hop world was saddened when Adam “MCA” Yauch, the co-founder of the legendary trio, the Beastie Boys, died of cancer. For three years, MCA has been suffering from cancer. Before suffering from cancer and dying at the age of 48, the Beastie Boys rose to become one of the most-popular hip hop groups, ever.

Signed to Def Jam, MCA and the Beastie Boys released a number of hit singles, gaining legendary status along the way. Many compared the Beastie Boys to Run-DMC. Ironically, the brother of Run, Russell Simmons, was the owner and operator of Def Jam for several years, during the Beastie Boys run.

With Russell Simmons running Def Jam, the Beastie Boys had the opportunity to meet and build a relationship with Run-DMC. Things have changed over the years, as Run is now Rev Run. Like the rest of the music world, Rev Run is saddened by the loss of MCA, but he sat down with MTV to remember the good times.
