With Life is Good finally on the way, Nas has been one of the hottest topics. The album, which was originally due in 2011, is a milestone in Nas’ career, his tenth studio album. Through the ups-and-downs of his career, in the end Nas has always managed to emerge triumphant. Now three singles deep with Life is Good, Nas sat down for an exclusive with XXL.
Earlier in his career, Nas’ fatherhood came into play. During his feud with Jay-Z, the Brooklyn emcee boasted of bedding the mother of Nas’ daughter, Destiny. At the time, Destiny was barely out of kindergarten. Now, though, Nas is seventeen, not much younger than Nasir when he first had her.
The latest single off Life is Good, “Daughters,” is about his daughter. Nas discovered Destiny writing letters to a man in prison and posing next to condoms for pictures. Admittedly, Nas revealed it was the source of him not being strict enough. Trying to show the world what it is like to watch his daughter grow up, Nas said the song is a teaser of what Life is Good will be like.
