One of the first breakout artists of 2012 was Australian transplant, Iggy Azalea. She was signed by Interscope Records last fall and T.I. was working with her. Initially, the executive producer of Iggy Azalea’s album, he signed her too.

For months, Iggy Azalea has been working on her debut album, which she calls The New Classic. Because of her newcomer status in the game and being the opposite of what most expect from a rapper, many have taken offense to Iggy naming her album The New Classic. Despite where she comes from and what she looks like, Iggy Azalea still feels she can change the game.

Recently, Iggy Azalea spoke with MTV for “Hip Hop POV” and she defended her album title. Mentioning the classic debut albums from Jay-Z and Dr. Dre, Iggy Azalea said she feels her album is indeed The New Classic. Explaining the title, Iggy Azalea said she wants her music to be like a time capsule for her fans, when they listen to this album.
