Safaree “SB” Samuels talks Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” [VIDEO]

Critics were surprised at the route Nicki Minaj took on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, as the album contained a lot of pop elements. In response to the critics, Nicki Minaj explained how much rap the album also contained. But, with her recent singles, dating back to Pink Friday‘s “Super Bass,” Nicki Minaj has been headed toward a pop-oriented style.

Nicki Minaj revealed she wanted to return to her rap roots, which is one reason she named her album Roman Reloaded. When she began recording, however, Nicki Minaj was caught up in the pop element. During the recording of the album, Nicki Minaj was exposed to different types of music and soon went down a different route. MTV News recently caught up with Safaree “SB” Samuels and he also spoke on the album.

SB backed up what Nicki Minaj said, saying her original intention was to put together a rap album. After talking about Nicki Minaj’s part on the album, SB explained what his role, as co-executive producer of the album was.
