“Let’s get it poppin like MC Lyte around a bunch of dykes,” Tyler, the Creator rapped on his verse on Odd Future’s “Rella.” In a year, hip hop has gotten to know Tyler, the Creator and his dark sense of humor. The rapper’s music is full of taking shots at various artists. Not a fan of Bruno Mars, Tyler, the Creator rapped about crashing the “Airplane” of B.o.B. into Bruno Mars’ asophogas.

MC Lyte was not very familiar with Tyler, the Creator, but she did realize his eccentric style. However, she did mention, during her HipHopDX.com interview that she was offended by Tyler, the Creator’s comment in the song. Lyte feels Tyler holds a responsiblity to his fans and his commet was irresponsible. MC Lyte said Tyler, the Creator needs to be aware of what he says because of who she is.

During the Odd Future interview with DJ Drama, Tyler, the Creator was asked about MC Lyte’s response. In typical Tyler fashion, he joked, saying he knew the impact he has on his listener, which is why he mentioned her. Tyler, the Creator defended himself, saying he said “like,” as in not confirming MC Lyte’s sexuality. Joking about MC Lyte’s feelings, Tyler said “fuck her feels, what the fuck about my feelings.” Closing, Tyler, the Creator said it was a joke and this is his style, telling the veteran femcee to get over it. He expected her to laugh it off, given her status.
