Album Preview: Future – “Pluto”

It has been almost one year since the Scarface ode, “Tony Montana,” leaked to the internet, instantly making Future into a star. Throughout 2011, many rappers freestyled over the “Tony Montana” track. One big-name artist impressed with the track was Drake, who reached out to Future about remixing the song. Future opted to turn the remix into the official single and wanted a music video done, with Drake.

The controversy surrounding the music video has led many to believe there is a feud between Future and Drake, something both have denied. Future did not focus solely on “Tony Montana,” recording another hit, “Magic.” Almost identical to the situation with “Tony Montana,” Future was soon put in contact with T.I., by DJ Drama, and the single, “Magic,” was also remixed, with T.I. appearing in the music video.

In September, Future was signed to Epic Records and began working on his debut album, Pluto. Future had been dominant on the mixtape scene for years and he is now preparing to make his mark on the overall rap game, with Lil Wayne wanting to work with him. On his debut album, Future also included Snoop Dogg and R. Kelly and Pluto does appear to be one of the most-entertaining albums of 2012.
