The fans grew impatient, as Lil’ Kim went through several release dates and her deal with Atlantic Records, working on her comeback album. Female rappers were nearly extinct, but Lil’ Kim was the go-to girl when it came to femcees. This would soon change when Nicki Minaj rose to fame.
Nicki Minaj reminded many of Lil’ Kim and the Young Money femcee made sure to pay homage to Kimmy Blanco in every interview. But, during the summer of 2010, Lil’ Kim still began dissing Nicki Minaj. Her feud with Nicki Minaj inspired her comeback release, Black Friday, a mixtape.
Forcing her way back into the game, Lil’ Kim has an official album planned for release in 2012. Recently, she made her way to RapFix Live on MTV to speak with Sway Calloway about the projects she has in the works. During her interview, Lil’ Kim compared her work to that of Kanye West, as she does not care about the fallout over what she says.
