Curren$y interview with VIBE [VIDEO]

There are many artists who are experiencing success without being signed to a major label. With things so easy without a label, many are going without. Curren$y was the original flagship artist for Lil Wayne’s Young Money from 2005 through 2007. At the time, Lil Wayne was right before becoming one of the biggest rappers in the game. This popularity was built by returning to the mixtape scene and releasing independent music.

When Curren$y left Young Money, he copied this formula. However, the difference between the two is Curren$y has remained independent, for the most part. For a brief period of time, Curren$y was a part of a revived Roc-A-Fella Records. Now, there is no assurance if the new label is still active, or of Curren$y’s relationship with Damon Dash. One thing can be confirmed, though, Curren$y is one of the hottest rappers out there.

VIBE recently sat down with Curren$y to discuss his upcoming projects. In the interview, VIBE also discussed Curren$y’s interest in working with Kanye West.
