Nicki Minaj preparing to make UK history with “Starships” single

Making history is nothing new to Nicki Minaj. When she was on the mixtape scene on the streets of Queens, New York, Nicki Minaj managed to move one million units, then a mixtape record. In 2009, Lil Wayne signed Nicki Minaj to Young Money and she used the position to her advantage. Early in 2010, Nicki Minaj had already collaborated with Usher and Ludacris.

With all the accomplishments Nicki Minaj has made, it is easy to forget she is still a newcomer and only one album deep. Currently, Nicki Minaj is working on her sophomore album. In preparation for the album, Nicki Minaj has released three singles, already. One of the more-popular singles taken from the album is “Starships,” which has done particularly well in the United Kingdom.

“Starships” is currently at number five on the United Kingdom music charts. The song is the first top five single from a female artist, since Missy Elliott. If the single continues to rise the charts, it will become the highest-charting single by a femcee on the United Kingdom charts. As it stands, aside from the artwork, there is no music video for the single and she has yet to officially perform the single.
