Plies talks new music, “On Trial” mixtape and “Purple Heart” album [VIDEO]

There was a time when Plies was considered the future of hip hop by a few publications. Plies released several hit records, including three albums in two years. Following his 2008 run, which spawned two successful albums, Definition of Real and Da REAList, Plies did not release a new album in 2009. In 2010, Plies released his fourth studio album, but lacked the fanfare he received on his previous three efforts.

Plies has been out of the public eye since the 2010 release of Goon Affiliated. However, Plies did release two mixtapes in 2011. While the mixtapes generated a little buzz, it was a far cry from his dominant years, filled with singles, such as “Bust It Baby, Pt. 2.” After spending a little time away from the game, Plies sees 2012 as his chance to reclaim his spot. For 2012, Plies has two releases in the works, first his On Trial mixtape, followed by his Purple Heart album.

Recently, Plies discussed this, and more, in an interview.
