While Drake runs with the Young Money crew and is often spotted in Miami and New York City, he still represents his hometown, Toronto. Given Drake’s success in the United States, it is easy to forget he is actually a native of Canada. However, Drake is quick to remind the fans of several of his records about how he dreamed of stardom, while living with his mother in Toronto. Drake still makes time for his hometown, often residing there during his downtime.

Hockey also originated in Canada, as the climate is very cold. Some of the original hockey teams were based out of Canada. But, when the NHL was formed, there were several teams based in the United States and only a handful based in Canada. Despite hockey’s growing popularity, the sport is still among the least-played by children and is the least-popular with hip hop. In recent years, the lack of diversity in the NHL has been a debate within the urban community.

Apparently, the NHL heard these complaints and decided to give something to their urban fans. During the 2012 NHL All-Star Game in Ottowa, Ontario on January 29, 2012, Drake will perform.
