In 2009, Kid Cudi finally made a name for himself when his “Day ‘N Nite” single rose to become a hit single. When the single gained popularity, hip hop had gone stagnant in the eyes of many. Because of this, Kid Cudi was quickly accepted into the fold and being signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music helped to boost his popularity.

While Kid Cudi was becoming one of the biggest hip hop stars in the game, he found himself growing bored with the game. Kid Cudi was working on his sophomore album when he announced he was going to do something different. The Cleveland rapper announced his second album would be his final rap album.

Kid Cudi announced his third project, which would be released in 2011, would be a rock project. Teaming up with Dot da Genius, the duo became the Wizards and shortened the name to WZRD. Eventually, the duo decided to delay their album until early 2012. With a January 30 release date planned, Dot da Genius made an announcement via Twitter. Dot da Genius announced WZRD will be released on February 28, however the songs “Brakes” and “Teleport 2 Me” will still be released on iTunes soon.
