In the wake of MC Hammer’s demise, rappers have become smarter with their money. While many criticize the type of music made by today’s rappers, they have a stronger business acumen than the rappers of decades past. Among the hip hop success stories is Ludacris. From his 2000 debut until 2004, he dominated the rap game.

However, in 2004, Ludacris began his acting career and had a critically-acclaimed role in the film, Crash. After becoming a box office success, Ludacris expanded into the business world. Already, Ludacris was running his Disturbing tha Peace record label and he soon expanded. Among the ventures Ludacris began was venturing into restaurants.

Ludacris launched his Straits Atlanta restaurant in 2008. However, as he opened his Chicken N Beer restaurant, Ludacris decided to close his original restaurant venture. While he called Straits a nice venture into the industry, Ludacris said he will be able to leave his own footprint in the restaurant industry with Chicken N Beer.
