Coming into 2011, there was an incredible amount of pressure on the shoulders of Young Jeezy, who last released an album in 2008. In 2010, Young Jeezy built up a little buzz, with the success of his “Lose My Mind” single, yet his album still went unreleased. During his time out of the spotlight, Rick Ross emerged as one of the most-popular artists in the game. This came at the expense of Young Jeezy.

By 2011, Rick Ross was favored in the game and he was taking shots at Young Jeezy. Because of this, many fans were against Young Jeezy. The bad press, paired with Def Jam continuing to delay his album did not help matters for the rapper. Still, Young Jeezy continued to record, releasing his “Ballin'” single, featuring Lil Wayne. While Young Jeezy had a little buzz, it was not enough to keep him relevant throughout the summer.

In September, Young Jeezy’s December 20 release date was confirmed, yet fans still felt as if Thug Motivation 103 would still be delayed again, this was not the case. As fate would have it, Rick Ross’ album would be delayed into 2012, as Young Jeezy reconnected with his fans through the singles leaked in anticipation of his album. In only a matter of time, Young Jeezy was back as if he never left. With only a few days left in 2011, one of the biggest artists of the year is Young Jeezy. Going into 2012, fans around the world will be listening to his music.
