50 Cent goes R&B on “Black Magic”

50 Cent (1)When Eminem was still promoting Relapse, he had plans to releasing another album on the heels of the album. Now, months later, his album has been changed from Relapse 2 to Recovery. During the same time, 50 Cent announced his plans to emulate Eminem. He also wanted to release two albums on the heels of each other. Last summer, he said his next album would be Black Magic.

After another album flop and a label change, 50 Cent has been working on the album during his downtime. Since finding a new home at Def Jam, 50 has entered the home stretch with his new album. Following the release of Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent invested all of his time in finishing up the album. His goal was to have the album out before the start of summer.

Clearly, 50 Cent has missed that mark as he has changed the focus of the album. Initially, 50 spoke of recording a techno album, but after hearing Drake’s album, 50 Cent wants to do a hybrid album. His album will consist of elements of rap and R&B, much like Drake’s album. 50 Cent said he has channelled Marvin Gaye and other soul artists for his new album. Expect Black Magic sometime later this year.

The album will be released on G-Unit Records and Def Jam.
